Being still very amateurish and looking at different subject matters it surprised me that some pegs could be so popular!!!

New Musical Express

Finally after much waiting an article has been printed in the NME on the band Static From Stereo; included of course is the bands chosen picture from the ad-hoc shoot I did for them. It's a nice shoot I think considering the wind, sleet, snow and rain that battered me and the band that night. I wish them all the best for the future and would gladly snap some shots again!!! On a slightly lower note, the NME was a poor read....or perhaps I'm just getting older!!

Illuminating The Wall

I managed to take the family to see Hadrian's Wall getting "lit-up" to celebrate the anniversary of the Roman rule comming to an end! It was wonderful to see and witness this once in a lifetime event and again gave me an excuse to snap some shots!!! Approximately 500 lights, stretching from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway were lit. The first light was lit at 5.45pm, with posts lighting up in turn approximately every 250 metres over the course of an hour. Again a wonderful site to see

Tony Jefferies

Had the greatest pleasure in meeting a local legend in the making... Tony Jefferies!! After asking through Twitter if I could pop down and take some photos, he agreed!!!! So of I went to the Gym he trains at to snap some shots. What a brilliant guy, very helpful and approachable. I have no doubt (and I've seen his speed and power) that we will be seeing him make great waves in the boxing world!

Static From Stereo!!

I got asked to take some photos at short notice for a great up and comming local band from Sunderland! "Static From Stereo" are getting an article written about them in the NME and they did not have any up to date photos with the newest member. Not a bad shoot considering the snow, rain and wind in a very cold Sunderland... You can follow the lads on Facebook "Static from Stereo" or Twitter "@sfsnortheast or MySpace "Staticfromstereo"

HDR Raw shots

I have started to shoot all my pictures in "Raw" format, it has enabled me to do some much needed tweeking to some shots that include the sun. Altering the White balance also picks the sun up better, but in doing this makes the rest of the photo dark. Taking another shot of the same thing with the White balance back up and then overlapping the two shots (light and dark) in Photoshop Elements helps you create a nice look. Once you have overlapped the lighter of the two photos use the magic eraser to remove the old extremely light sky and bring through the darker sky with the enhanced sun.

Soft Focus Photography

I have been fiddling with the soft focus look in portraits and finally think I'm getting there with some shots of my kids. It also helps when you have a good camera, I have just purchased a Canon and must say it makes a big differance. Using the built in flash and a fast shutter speed, then attempting the soft focus look I managed to shoot some decent photos.
